67.4.1. Placing an AUTO call

Once dialled the desired number in the Address bar or having selected it via the Address book (Contacts) the user may place a call.

Using the AUTO call button the user is not forced to decide whatever is better to save money and having better quality, the phone already knows because the phone has the settings of the user and the state of all connections.

Here is the schema of the algorithm used by this button.

67.4.2. Placing a MANUAL call

Once dialled the desired number in the Address bar or having selected it via the Address book (Contacts) the user may place a call.

Using the MANUAL button the user may choose personally what option to use to perform the call.

The manual call options

Let's check the fees for each calls.

  • VoIP Call is totally free, apart the cost of Internet connection, the user must check related fees to avoid to overflow the threshold provided by the carrier.

  • Post Selection GSM: the call may be free if it is supposed that the SIM has a special contract to save money with the You&Me number. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled

    • "Abilis features" must be enabled

    • "Enable Postselection" must be enabled

    • "You&Me" number must be set

  • Callback by Data-Network: should be totally free for the user of the phone. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled

    • The abilisphone must have a data connection to Abilis

    • "Abilis features" must be enabled

    • "Enable Callback" must be set

  • Callback by SMS the user pays just the SMS cost. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled

    • The "SMS destination number" must be set

    • "Abilis features" must be enabled

    • "Enable Callback" must be set

  • Blind Callback should be totally free for the user of the phone, but the user doesn't reach directly the final destination, he must be connected to own firm operator. This is option is available if:

    • The GSM network must be enabled

    • "Abilis features" must be enabled

    • "Callback number" must be set

    • "Enable Callback" must be set

67.4.3. During the call

During a VoIP call the user interface offer this page:

In the upper side there is:

  • The counterpart number

  • The call duration

  • The call state

  • The audio volume level

  • The encryption icon, if used

Moreover the following features are offered:

  • Muting the microphone

  • Sending DTMFs

  • Muting speaker

  • Making another call (after parking the first one)

  • Pausing current call (R button)

  • Recording the call (if the user is enabled to and the service is enabled in Abilis CPX), the recording may be stopped and restart more times during the call if needed else it ends with the call.

  • Closing the call

To place the second call you may use a mini dialer (keyboard button) or the address book button (you have to pause the first call before doing it.

During the second call you may SWITCH to the previous call (the button in the bottom, in the left corner, or TRANSFER the two calls via the button under the pause button.

In case of GSM calls ordered by phone the application is normally in background. If the application is opened the following page is shown.

The following features are offered:

  • Muting the microphone

  • Muting speaker

  • Recording the call (if the user is enabled to and the service is enabled in Abilis CPX), the recording may be stopped and restart more times during the call if needed else it ends with the call.

  • Closing the GSM call.

if the call uses a UMTS-BOX to interface with Abilis then also second call, DTMFs, SWITCH and TRANSFER features are available.

If UMTS-BOX is not used soem button appears still avaialble but cannot work as its feature needs UMTS-BOX to work.

Although never allowed, the other options are shown to keep the page similar to the one of SIP calls.

Be careful, Abilis commands does not interact directly with the phone but just with Abilis. In case of missing or bad data connection the command cannot reach abilis so i.e. the close GSM call button may fail and the user must close the call manually if it is not closed automatically.

67.4.4. Incoming call

If a call is received the following page appears in the phone:

Three option are available:

  • Accept the call, scrolling forward the green icon

  • Decline the call, scrolling back the red icon

  • Just mute the speaker (you may decide to accept the call later eventually).
